The Police Coast Guard (PCG) has arrested three men for unlawful entry into Singapore.

 

On 24 September 2017 at 10.59pm, PCG intercepted an unidentified craft inside Singapore waters at the sea off Tekong Reclaimed Area and arrested two men, aged 35 and 44, who did not possess valid identification or travel documents.

 

In a separate incident on 25 September 2017 at about 1.30am, PCG detected a swimmer heading towards Singapore waters. PCG intercepted and arrested a 34-year-old man at the sea off Gedong. All three men were arrested for unlawful entry into Singapore under the Immigration Act, Chapter 133.

 

Under the Immigration Act (Chapter 133), the penalties for overstaying or illegal entry are a jail term of up to six months plus a minimum of three strokes of the cane, while the penalties for illegal departure is a fine of up to $2,000, a jail term of up to six months, or both.
