The Police have arrested a 17-year-old youth for negligent act causing hurt in relation to a case of electric scooter collision reported on 24 October 2017. 

 

On 24 October 2017 at 9.22pm, the Police received a report of a collision between an electric scooter and a 6-year-old boy in the vicinity of Blk 889A Woodlands Drive 50. The boy was injured following the collision and was conveyed to Kandang Kerbau Women’s and Children’s Hospital. Through extensive follow-up investigations and with the aid of images from Police Cameras (POLCAM), officers from Jurong Police Division established the identity of the youth and arrested him on 25 October 2017. An electric scooter believed to have been used in the commission of the offence was seized as a case exhibit.

 

Investigations are ongoing. Under Section 337(b) of the Penal Code, Chapter 224, first-time offenders found guilty will be liable to a fine of up to $2,500 or to imprisonment for a term which may extend to 6 months, or to both.
