Deputy Assistant Commissioner (DAC) Zhang Weihan (张伟汉) will assume the Command of Ang Mo Kio Police Division on 3 November 2017. He takes over from Assistant Commissioner (AC) Lian Ghim Hua (连锦桦), who will be moving on to assume the appointment of 2 Deputy Director, Criminal Investigation Department on the same day.
DAC Zhang, 35, joined the Singapore Police Force (SPF) in 2001. He has held several key appointments including Commanding Officer of Bukit Timah Neighbourhood Police Centre, Head of Operations and Training at Jurong Police Division and Deputy Director (Joint Operations Group) at the Ministry of Home Affairs.
AC Lian, 37, was appointed Commander of Ang Mo Kio Police Division on 1 July 2014. He joined SPF in 1999 and has held various key appointments including Commanding Officer of Bukit Merah East Neighbourhood Police Centre, Head of Operations and Training at Jurong Police Division, Deputy Commander of Jurong Police Division and Deputy Director (Policy Development Division) at the Ministry of Home Affairs.
During his tenure as Commander, AC Lian led Ang Mo Kio Police Division, together with 3rd SCDF Division and CNB Enforcement ‘F’ as part of the Home Team Northern Sector, to win the Home Team Sector Excellence award for three consecutive years from 2015 to 2017. The award is a reflection of the strong collaboration between Ang Mo Kio Police Division, 3rd SCDF Division and CNB Enforcement ‘F’ that delivered outstanding performance in many areas, including joint operations, community engagement, training and exercises. Besides the day-to-day work of safeguarding the community in Ang Mo Kio Police Division, AC Lian led his officers in major security operations, such as the 28th Southeast Asian Games, General Election 2015, and the yearly National Day Parades and National Day Rallies. Apart from his duties at Ang Mo Kio Police Division, AC Lian was also the contingent commander for SPF’s disaster relief and humanitarian aid mission to earthquake-hit Nepal in 2015.
Reflecting on his tenure as Commander of Ang Mo Kio Police Division, AC Lian said, “It’s been a privilege and honour to serve the community alongside my fellow officers, including our volunteer officers and national servicemen. The community and my officers have been at the heart of my work over the past three years. I am proud to have been part of a team of dedicated officers who served with passion, and I thank my officers for being steadfast in their duties. I am also grateful for the support from the community, and I thank our partners for working together with us to keep Singapore safe and secure.”
