The Police have arrested two men, aged 38 and 54, for their suspected involvement in loansharking activities.

On 20 October 2017, a residential unit at Jurong West Street 52 was locked up with a bicycle chain and a debtor note was affixed on the wall. Through extensive ground enquiries and the viewing of images from Police Cameras (POLCAMs), officers from Jurong Police Division established the identities of the suspects and arrested them along Marsiling Road on 8 November 2017.

The suspects will be charged in Court on 10 November 2017 under the Moneylenders Act 2010 (Revised Edition). Under the Moneylenders Act (Revised Edition 2010), first time offenders found guilty of loanshark harassment shall be fined not less than $5,000 and not more than $50,000 with mandatory imprisonment of up to 5 years and mandatory caning of up to 6 strokes.
