The Police have arrested a 56-year-old man for his suspected involvement in a case of Criminal Trespass and Attempted Theft of Donations from a temple at Balestier Road.

 

On 21 November 2017 at about 12.50 am, the Police received a report that a man was seen behaving suspiciously in the compound of the temple, which was closed at that time.

 

Officers from Tanglin Police Division responded swiftly and arrested the man at scene for Criminal Trespass and Attempted Theft. Preliminary investigations reveal that the suspect is believed to be involved in other similar cases of theft.

 

The suspect will be charged in Court on 22 November 2017 with the offences of Criminal Trespass and Attempted Theft punishable under Section 447 and Section 379 read with Section 511 of the Penal Code, Chapter 224, respectively. If convicted, the suspect could face imprisonment for a term which may extend to 3 months, or with fine which may extend to $1,500, or with both for an offence of Criminal Trespass. If convicted for theft, he is liable for an imprisonment term which may extend to 3 years, and shall also be liable to a fine.
