The Police Coast Guard (PCG) arrested a 39-year-old man for unlawful entry into Singapore on 21 November 2017.
On 21 November 2017 at about 10.50pm, PCG detected a floating object believed to be a swimmer at the sea off Woodlands waterfront heading towards Singapore waters. Following the detection, the man was swiftly intercepted and arrested for unlawful entry into Singapore under the Immigration Act, Chapter 133.
Under the Immigration Act (Cap 133), the penalties for illegal entry are a jail term of up to six months plus a minimum of three strokes of the cane.
