The Police have arrested a 37-year old man for his suspected involvement in loansharking activities.

 

On 4 December 2017, the Police received a report informing that a residential unit at Blk 2 Upper Aljunied Lane had been splashed with paint. Through extensive ground enquiries, officers from Tanglin Police Division established the identity of the suspect and arrested him along Circuit Road on 6 December 2017. 

 

The suspect will be charged in Court on 8 December 2017 under the Moneylenders Act 2010 (Revised Edition). First-time offenders found guilty of loanshark harassment shall be punished with imprisonment for a term not exceeding 5 years and shall also be liable to a fine of not less than $5,000 and not more than $50,000 with mandatory caning of not less than 3 and not more than 6 strokes.
