The Police Coast Guard (PCG) has arrested three men for unlawful entry into Singapore on 9 December 2017.
On 9 December 2017 at about 10.58pm, officers from the PCG detected three swimmers heading towards Singapore from Malaysia. Both land and sea resources were deployed to apprehend the three men. At about 11.22pm, the three men, aged between 22 and 29, were intercepted and arrested for unlawful entry into Singapore under the Immigration Act, Chapter 133.
Under the Immigration Act (Cap 133), the penalties for illegal entry are a jail term of up to six months plus a minimum of three strokes of the cane.
