The Police have arrested two men aged 18 and 19 for their suspected involvement in a case of Theft of Motorcycle.

On 30 December 2017 at about 4.50 pm, the Police received a report from a victim, informing that his motorcycle was missing from the carpark of Blk 217 Compassvale Drive. The motorcycle was recovered along Harbourfront Walk four days later.

Through extensive follow-up investigations, officers from Ang Mo Kio Police Division established the identity of the suspects and arrested them on 8 January 2018 along Yio Chu Kang Road. A screwdriver, a small adjustable wrench and two sets of multi-tools were seized.

Both men will be charged in Court on 10 January 2018 with the offence of Theft of Motor Vehicle under Section 379A of the Penal Code, Chapter 224. If convicted, they will be liable to an imprisonment term of up to 7 years and a fine.

The Police would like to advise all motorcycle owners to adopt the following crime prevention measures:

  • Use a motorcycle canvas to cover the motorcycle, securing both ends;

  • Use additional locking devices such as disc brake locks or install a suspension guard; and

  • Remove the ignition key and lock the motorcycle, whenever it is left unattended.
