The Police have arrested two men aged 27 and 42 for their suspected involvement in a series of cheating case involving fake gold.

 

On 18 January 2018, the Police received a report that a man had wanted to pawn a gold bangle and a ring that were believed to be fake at a pawnshop located along Choa Chu Kang Street 62.

 

Officers from Jurong Police Division responded to the case and arrested the 27-year-old man. Through follow-up investigations, the identity of the 42-year old man was established and he was subsequently arrested along Choa Chu Kang North 6. Preliminary investigations revealed that both men are believed to be involved in at least five similar cases.

 

Both men will be charged in Court on 20 January 2018 with the offence of Conspiracy to Commit Cheating under Section 420 read with Section 109 of the Penal Code, Chapter 224. If convicted, they will be liable to an imprisonment term which may extend to 10 years, and a fine.
