The Police have arrested two men, both aged 38, for their suspected involvement in loansharking activities.

On 31 January 2018, the Police were informed that a residential unit along Lorong 4 Toa Payoh had been splashed with paint. Through extensive ground enquiries, officers from Tanglin Police Division swiftly established the identity of the men and arrested them along Tampines Street 23 and 24 respectively on 1 February 2018.

Both men will be charged in Court on 3 February 2018 under the Moneylenders Act 2010 (Revised Edition). First-time offenders found guilty of loanshark harassment shall be punished with imprisonment for a term not exceeding 5 years and shall also be liable to a fine of not less than $5,000 and not more than $50,000 with mandatory caning of not less than 3 and not more than 6 strokes.
