The police have arrested two 34-year-old women, for their involvement in a series of shop theft cases.

 

On 7 February 2018 at about 4.25pm, the Police received information that the two women were attempting to dispatch stolen property overseas. Through extensive ground enquiries, officers from Bedok Police Division swiftly identified the two women and arrested them within six hours after the incident was reported. Preliminary investigations revealed that the women are suspected to be involved in several other shop theft cases. 167 pieces of stolen clothing were recovered, with a total value of SGD $ 8944.50.

 

Both women will be charged in Court on 9 February 2018 with the offence of Theft in Dwelling with Common Intention under Section 380 read with Section 34 of the Penal Code, Chapter 224. If convicted, they face an imprisonment term which may extend to 7 years and shall also be liable to a fine.
