The Police have arrested a 30-year-old man for his suspected involvement in a case of theft of motor vehicle at Block 348 Ubi Avenue 1.

On 12 February 2018, the Police received a report that a man had attempted to steal a motorcycle at Block 348 Ubi Avenue 1 before fleeing.  Through extensive ground enquiries, officers from Bedok Police Division established the identity of the man and arrested him on the same day.

 

The man will be charged in Court on 13 February 2018 with the offence of Theft of Motor Vehicle under Section 379A of the Penal Code, Chapter 224. If convicted, the man will face an imprisonment term of up to 7 years and shall also be liable to fine. 

 

The Police would like to advise all motorcycle owners to adopt the following crime prevention measures:

  • Park your motorcycle in well-lit areas;

  • Install an anti-theft alarm for your motorcycle;

  • Use a motorcycle canvas to cover the motorcycle, securing both ends; 

  • Use additional locking devices such as disc brake locks or install a suspension guard; and

  • Remove the ignition key and lock the motorcycle, whenever it is left unattended.
