The Police have arrested an 18-year-old for his suspected involvement in a case of housebreaking.

 

On 23 March 2018 at 8.47 am, the Police received a report of a case of housebreaking at Blk 596C Ang Mo Kio Street 52 where a handphone valued at $1000 was stolen.

 

Officers from Ang Mo Kio Police Division conducted extensive investigation and established the identity of the suspect and arrested him along Ang Mo Kio Ave 10, within 6 hours from the receipt of the report.

 

The suspect will be charged in Court on 24 March 2018 with the offence of Housebreaking and Theft by Day under Section 454 read of the Penal Code, Chapter 224, which is punishable with imprisonment for a term of not less than 18 months and not more than 10 years.

 

The Police would like to advise the public to adopt the following crime prevention measures: 

 

  • Do not leave house keys unattended  

  • Ensure that all doors, windows and other openings are well secured before leaving the house;

    ·       Secure all doors and window grills before retiring to bed or when   

          leaving your home unattended, even for a short while;

    ·        Install a burglar alarm, motion sensor light and/or close circuit

          surveillance camera to cover the access points into your premises.

          Ensure that they are tested periodically and in good working

          condition;
