The Police have arrested a 40-year-old man for his suspected involvement in a case of outrage of modesty.

 

On 26 March 2018, the Police received a report from a 41-year-old female victim informing that she was molested on board a train at Woodlands MRT station.

 

Preliminary investigation revealed that the suspect had boarded the same train as the victim and allegedly molested her while in the train. The suspect later alighted at Woodlands MRT station, and the victim trailed him to Woodlands Bus Interchange where she sought assistance from a bus captain to detain him. The Police was informed and arrested the man.

 

Investigations against the suspect are ongoing. Anyone convicted for the offence of outrage of modesty under Section 354(1) of the Penal Code, Chapter 224 is liable for a jail term of up to 2 years, or with fine, caning, or with any combination of such punishments, upon conviction.
