The Police have arrested a 44-year-old man for his suspected involvement in a case of outrage of modesty.
On 30 March 2018, the Police received a report that a 27-year-old woman was molested outside her residential unit at Blk 143 Jalan Bukit Merah. Preliminary investigations revealed that the man had followed the victim to her block and tried to befriend her. He then allegedly molested the victim outside her unit. Officers from Central Police Division followed up on the report to establish the identity of the man and arrested him on 31 March 2018.
Investigations against the man is ongoing. Anyone convicted for the offence of outrage of modesty under Section 354 (1) of the Penal Code may be punished with imprisonment of up to two years, or fined, and is also liable to caning.
