The Police have arrested a 27-year-old man, wanted for multiple criminal and drug-related offences, following a joint operation conducted by the Singapore Police Force and the Central Narcotics Bureau (CNB) on 7 April 2018.

On 31 March 2018, the Police were alerted to a slashing case in the vicinity of Jalan Besar, where a 41-year-old man sustained deep cuts to his wrists, forearm and shoulder. Through extensive investigative probes and ground enquiries, officers from the Central Police Division and Criminal Investigation Department (CID) established the identity of the suspect. Investigations also revealed that the suspect was wanted for other criminal offences, including traffic and drug-related offences.

On 7 April 2018 at about 2.40am, officers from CID mounted an operation in the vicinity of Tampines. During the operation, the suspect fled from the police officers in a car, damaging a police vehicle and injuring an officer in the process. The officer had suffered minor injuries as a result of the incident.

Working tirelessly round the clock, officers from the CID, Police Intelligence Department, Central Police Division and the CNB swiftly traced the suspect and mounted another operation on 7 April 2018 at about 11.30pm. During the joint operation, the suspect, together with a 23-year-old woman and 25-year-old man, were arrested in a hotel located along Victoria Street.

The 27-year-old suspect will be charged in court on 9 April 2018 with voluntarily causing hurt with a dangerous weapon under Section 324 of the Penal Code, Chapter 224. Police will be seeking a court order for the suspect to be remanded for a week for investigations into his suspected involvement in other offences. Investigations against the 23-year-old woman and 25-year-old man are ongoing.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (Investigations & Intelligence) concurrent Director of the Criminal Investigation Department, Tan Chye Hee said, This case involved the combined and coordinated efforts of officers from various SPF units as well as our counterparts from the Central Narcotics Bureau. I would like to commend all the officers involved, for their perseverance and tenacity in their investigation, which led to the successful arrest of this suspect who was involved in several serious criminal cases. The Police are committed to keeping Singapore safe, and we will spare no effort to hunt down offenders to ensure that they are brought to justice and face the full brunt of the law.”
