The Police continue to step up our enforcement efforts against errant massage establishment (MEs) operators following the introduction of the new Massage Establishments Act (MEA) on 1 March 2018.
In the islandwide operations held from 12 to 18 April 2018, the Police checked a total of 19 MEs located at Bukit Timah, Little India, Mountbatten, Jurong West, Tampines, Upper Thomson, Yio Chu Kang and Yishun. Seven licensed MEs were found to have breached the licensing conditions, and two MEs were detected to be operating without a valid license. One woman was also arrested under the Employment of Foreign Manpower Act. Investigations are ongoing.
The Police will continue to take tough enforcement actions to ensure that errant operators are dealt with under the full extent of the law, under the enhanced MEA.
