The Police have arrested a 36-year-old man for his suspected involvement in a case of theft of motorcycle.

On 7 May 2018 at 12.13pm, the Police received a report from the victim informing that his motorcycle was stolen from the carpark of Blk 148 Yishun Street 11. The motorcycle was subsequently recovered in the vicinity of Yishun Ring Road.

Through extensive ground enquiries and with the aid of Police Cameras (POLCAMs), officers from Ang Mo Kio Police Division established the identity of the suspect and arrested him in the vicinity of Yishun Street 11 on the same day at 5.36pm.

The suspect will be charged in court on 9 May 2018 with theft of motor vehicle, which is punishable under Section 379A of the Penal Code, Chapter 224. If convicted, he will be liable to an imprisonment term of up to 7 years and a fine.

The Police would like to advise all motorcycle owners to adopt the following crime prevention measures:

  • Park your motorcycle in well-lit areas;
  • Install an anti-theft alarm on your motorcycle;
  • Use a motorcycle canvas to cover the motorcycle, and secure both ends; 
  • Use additional locking devices such as disc brake locks or install a suspension guard; and
  • Remove the ignition key and lock the motorcycle, whenever it is left unattended.
