The Police have arrested two 18-year-old men for their suspected involvement in a case of theft of motorcycle.

 

On 4 May 2018, the Police received a report from the victim informing that his motorcycle was missing from the multi-storey carpark of Blk 554A Woodlands Dr 53. The motorcycle was subsequently recovered in the vicinity of Java Rd on 5 May 2018.

 

Through extensive follow-up enquiries and with the aid of images from Police Cameras, officers from Jurong Police Division established the identities of the suspects and arrested them along Woodlands Dr 16 on 8 May 2018.

 

The two suspects will be charged in court on 10 May 2018 with theft of motor vehicle with common intention under Section 379A read with Section 34 of the Penal Code, Chapter 224. If convicted, they may be punished with imprisonment for a term of up to 7 years and shall also be liable to a fine. 

 

The Police would like to advise all motorcycle owners to adopt the following crime prevention measures:

  • Park your motorcycle in well-lit areas; 
  • Install an anti-theft alarm for your motorcycle; 
  • Use a motorcycle canvas to cover the motorcycle and secure both ends;  
  • Use additional locking devices such as disc brake locks or install a suspension guard; 
  • Remove the ignition key and lock the motorcycle, whenever it is left unattended; and
  • Do not leave spare keys inside the motorcycle box.
