The Police have arrested a 39-year-old man for his suspected involvement in a case of housebreaking and theft by night along Holland Grove View.
On 14 May 2018 at about 8.30 pm, the Police were alerted to a housebreaking case along Holland Grove View where jewellery worth more than $5000/- were stolen.
Officers from Clementi Police Division conducted extensive investigations and with the assistance from members of the public, the identity of the suspect was established and he was arrested on the same day.
The suspect will be charged in court on 16 May 2018 with housebreaking and theft by night under Section 457 of the Penal Code. If convicted, he faces a minimum imprisonment term of not less than 2 years and not more than 14 years.
Commander of Clementi Police Division, Senior Assistant Commissioner of Police, Mr Gerald Lim, said “This case was solved expeditiously with the assistance of the public, and highlights the importance of collaboration between the Police and the community in combating crime. The Police do not tolerate such brazen acts and will spare no effort to bring these criminals to justice.
The Police would like to advise all property owners to adopt the following crime prevention measures against break-ins:

Secure all doors, roller shutters, windows and other openings with good quality grills and close-shackled padlocks when leaving your premises unattended, even for a short while;

Refrain from keeping large sums of cash and valuables such as jewellery in unattended premises; and

Install a burglar alarm, motion sensor lights and/or close circuit surveillance cameras, to cover the access points into your premises. Ensure that they are tested periodically and are in good working condition.
