The Police have arrested three women, aged between 21 and 25, for their suspected involvement in vice-related activities.

On 14 May 2018, officers from the Central Police Division conducted an anti-vice operation along Middle Road and three women were arrested for offences under the Women’s Charter. Preliminary investigations revealed that these women were on social visit passes and had made use of their stays here to allegedly provide paid sexual services, operating from hotels. Investigations against the women are ongoing.

Landlords and hotel owners are advised to ensure that tenants do not carry out vice activities in their premises. If convicted, unlicensed brothel operators may be fined up to $10,000 and/or jailed up to five years. Any person who knowingly lives wholly or in part on the earnings of the prostitution of another person may be jailed up to five years and fined up to $10,000 upon conviction.

The Police will continue to take tough enforcement action and clamp down on such illicit activities. Anyone found assisting in vice activities will be dealt with severely in accordance with the law.
