The Police have arrested a 17-year-old youth for his suspected involvement in a case of housebreaking and theft by night.

 

On 16 May 2018 at about 1.20 am, the Police were alerted to a housebreaking case at Blk 313C, Sumang Link, where a wallet, cash and car key belonging to the victim were reported stolen.


Officers from Ang Mo Kio Police Division conducted extensive investigation and established the identity of the man, who was arrested along Sumang Walk on 17 May 2018.


The man will be charged in court on 19 May 2018 with housebreaking and theft by night under Section 457 of the Penal Code, Chapter 224, which is punishable with imprisonment for a term of not less than 2 years and not more than 14 years with caning.


The Police would like to advise all property owners to adopt the following crime prevention measures: 

  • Do not leave your house keys unattended;  

  • Secure all doors and window grills before retiring to bed or when leaving your home unattended, even for a short while; and

  • Install a burglar alarm, motion sensor light and/or close circuit surveillance camera to cover the access points into your premises.

  • Ensure that they are tested periodically and in good working condition.
