Four Arrested for Suspected Involvement in Sale of Counterfeit Luxury Goods

The Police have arrested three women and one man, aged between 25 and 48, for their suspected involvement in the sale of counterfeit luxury goods.

In an operation mounted on 27 May 2018, officers from the Criminal Investigation Department conducted simultaneous raids at four retail outlets in a shopping mall along Scotts Road, resulting in the arrests. During the operation, more than 600 pieces of trademark infringing goods such as footwear, apparels, bags, caps and accessories, with an estimated street value of about S$77,000/- were seized.  Investigations against the four persons are ongoing.

The Police take a serious view against intellectual property right (IPR) infringements and will not hesitate to take action against perpetrators who show blatant disregard for our IPR laws. Anyone found guilty of selling or distributing goods with falsely applied trademark may be fined up to a maximum of $100,000, or an imprisonment term which may extend to five years, or both.
