Man Arrested for Series of Theft from Motor Vehicles and Mischief to Vehicles

The Police have arrested a 58-year-old man for his suspected involvement in a series of theft from motor vehicles and mischief to vehicles.
 
Between 24 to 28 May 2018, the windscreens of several vehicles parked in the vicinity of Eunos Avenue 7A, Eunos Road 3, Kaki Bukit Avenue 5 and Sims Avenue industrial estates were smashed. Items were also stolen from the vehicles. Through extensive ground enquiries, officers from Bedok Police Division established the identity of the man who is believed to have committed these crimes and arrested him along Eunos Avenue 3 on 28 May 2018. 
 
The man will be charged in Court on 30 May 2018 with the offence of theft under Section 379 of the Penal Code, Chapter 224, punishable with imprisonment for a term which may extend to 3 years, or with fine, or with both and mischief to vehicle under Section 427 of the Panel Code, Chapter 224, punishable with imprisonment for a term which may extend to 2 years, or with fine, or with both. 
 
The Police would like to remind the public to adopt the following crime prevention to safeguard their vehicle against theft:

    • Park in well-lit areas; 
    • Install an anti-theft alarm system;
    • Remove cash-cards and other valuables, such as laptops and mobile phones before leaving your vehicle and
    • Wind up all windows and lock all doors of your vehicle, even if it is intended to be left unattended for a short while.
