A 48-year-old man will be charged in court on 30 May 2018 for his suspected involvement in gang-related activities, as well as in a case of affray and using abusive language towards public servant.

The man was believed to be a member of an unlawful society and had flaunted his secret society affiliation in a club located along New Bridge Road on 3 February 2018. During the arrest, the man was believed to have used abusive words towards a police officer. Follow-up investigations also revealed that the man was believed to be involved in a separate case of affray committed on 16 August 2017 along Woodlands Industrial Park.

Under Section 6(3) of the Protection from Harassment Act, anyone found guilty of using abusive language against a public servant shall be punished with an imprisonment term not exceeding 12 months, or with a fine not exceeding $5,000/-, or with both.
