The Police have arrested a 39-year-old man for his suspected involvement in a case of housebreaking and theft.
On 25 May 2018 at about 3.10pm, the Police received a report that a residential unit at Blk 450B Bukit Batok West Ave 6, which was undergoing renovation had been broken into. A television valued at S$2,699/- was reportedly stolen from the unit.
Through follow up investigations, officers from Jurong Police Division established the identity of the man and arrested him on 2 June 2018.
The man will be charged in court on 4 June 2018 with housebreaking and theft by day under Section 454 of the Penal Code, Chapter 224 which carries a maximum imprisonment term of 10 years.
The Police would like to advise all property owners to adopt the following crime prevention measures:
• Secure all doors, windows and other openings with good quality grills and close-shackled padlocks before retiring to bed or when leaving your home, even for a short while;
• Refrain from keeping large sums of cash and valuables at home; and
• Install a burglar alarm, motion sensor lights and/or close circuit surveillance cameras to cover the access points into your premises. Ensure that they are tested periodically and in good working condition.
