The Police have arrested a 37-year-old woman for her suspected involvement in a series of cheating cases.

Between 15 and 16 June 2018, the Police received several reports informing that a woman had approached residents at Edgefield Plains to request for loans between S$100/- and S$150/- for various reasons such as for her family members’ medical fees. She promised to return the borrowed sum and provided her handphone number. After getting the money, the woman became uncontactable. The handphone number was also invalid.

Through ground enquiries and follow-up investigations, officers from the Ang Mo Kio Police Division established the identity of the woman and arrested her along Edgefield Walk on 18 June 2018.

Investigations are ongoing.  Anyone found guilty of cheating under Section 420 of the Penal Code Chapter 224 shall be punished with an imprisonment term which may extend to 10 years, and shall also be liable to a fine.
