The Police have arrested a 30-year-old man for his suspected involvement in a series of theft from motor vehicles.

Between 1 and 3 July 2018, the windscreens of several vehicles parked in the vicinity of New Upper Changi Road and Bedok South Avenue 2 were smashed. Items were also stolen from the vehicles. Through ground enquiries, officers from Bedok Police Division established the identity of the man who is believed to have committed these crimes and arrested him on 3 July 2018 along Bedok South Avenue 3.

The man will be charged in court on 4 July 2018 with theft under Section 379 of the Penal Code, Chapter 224, punishable with imprisonment for a term which may extend to 3 years, or with fine, or with both.

The Police would like to remind the public to adopt the following crime prevention measures to safeguard their vehicles against theft:

  • Park in well-lit areas;
  • Install an anti-theft alarm system;
  • Remove cash-cards and other valuables, such as laptops and mobile phones before leaving your vehicle and
  • Wind up all windows and lock all doors of your vehicle, even if you intend to leave it unattended only for a short while.
