The Police have arrested a 23-year-old woman for her suspected involvement in a case of loanshark harassment.

On 8 July 2018, the Police were alerted to a case of loanshark harassment where the door of a residential unit along Pasir Ris Drive 6 was splashed with red paint and the gate was locked with a bicycle lock. Through ground enquiries and with the aid of images from Police cameras, officers from Bedok Police Division established the identity of the woman and arrested her along Lor 1 Toa Payoh on 10 July 2018. One mobile phone was seized as case exhibit. Preliminary investigations revealed that the woman is also believed to be involved in other loanshark harassment cases in Pasir Ris and Punggol.

The woman will be charged in court on 11 July 2018 under the Moneylenders Act 2010 (Revised Edition). First time offenders found guilty of loanshark harassment shall be fined not less than $5,000 and not more than $50,000 with mandatory imprisonment of up to 5 years, and mandatory caning of up to 6 strokes.
