The Police have arrested a 15-year-old teenager for her suspected involvement in loanshark harassment.

Between 6 July 2018 and 8 July 2018, the Police were alerted to several cases of loanshark harassment at Bedok South, Tampines, Sengkang and Lorong Yew Lian. The gates of the residential units were splashed with paint and chained with bicycle locks. Debtor notes were also left behind. Through ground enquiries and with the aid of images from police cameras, officers from Bedok Police Division established the identity of the teenager and arrested her along Tampines Street 21. One mobile phone was seized as case exhibit.

Police investigations are ongoing.

Under the Moneylenders Act (Revised Edition 2010), first time offenders found guilty of loanshark harassment shall be fined not less than $5,000 and not more than $50,000 with mandatory imprisonment of up to 5 years and mandatory caning of up to 6 strokes.
