On 6 August 2018 at about 5.05pm, the Police were alerted to a case of theft from vehicle along Jurong West Central 2. Through ground enquiries and with the aid of the closed-circuit television footages, officers from Jurong Police Division established the identity of the suspect and arrested him on 8 August 2018.

The man will be charged in court on 10 August 2018 with theft under Section 379 of the Penal Code, Chapter 224. Anyone convicted is liable for a jail term up to 3 years, or with fine, or both.

To safeguard their vehicles against theft, the Police would like to advise vehicle owners to adopt the following precautionary measures:
    • Install an anti-theft alarm system;
    • Do not leave cash and valuables such as cash cards, laptops, handphones, briefcases or wallets in your vehicle;
    • Lock all vehicle doors and wind up all windows when the vehicle is parked, even if it is for a short while; and
    • Park in well-lit areas.
