The Police have arrested a 53-year-old man for his suspected involvement in a case of housebreaking and theft by night along Faber Park.

On 13 August 2018 at about 1.00am, the Police received a report that a residential unit along Faber Park had been broken into and valuables such as watches and jewelleries worth about S$5000 were missing.

Through investigations and with the aid of CCTV footages, officers from Clementi Police Division established the identity of the man and arrested him along Upper Weld Road on 15 August 2018.

The man will be charged in court on 16 August 2018. Anyone convicted for housebreaking and theft by night faces a minimum imprisonment term of not less than 2 years and not more than 14 years.

The Police would like to advise all property owners to adopt the following crime prevention measures against housebreaking:

Secure all doors, roller shutters, windows and other openings with good quality grills and close-shackled padlocks when leaving your premises unattended, even for a short while;

Refrain from keeping large sums of cash and valuables in unattended premises; and

Install a burglar alarm, motion sensor lights and/or close circuit surveillance cameras, to cover the access points into your premises. Ensure that they are tested periodically and are in good working condition.
