The Central Police Division conducted a series of enforcement operations targeting vice activities, along Jalan Besar, Eu Tong Sen Street, Temple Street, Albert Street, Jalan Sultan and Smith Street on 7 and 8 September 2018.

14 women aged between 20 to 52 were arrested for offences under the Women’s Charter. They were operating from hotels and rented apartments and had advertised their services through various social platforms. A 33-year-old man was also arrested for offence under Employment of Foreign Manpower Act.

Landlords and hotel owners are advised to ensure that tenants do not carry out vice activities in their premises. Unlicensed brothel operators can be fined a maximum of $10,000 and/or up to five years’ imprisonment. Any person who knowingly lives wholly or in part on the earnings of the prostitution of another person can be jailed up to five years and fined up to $10,000.

The Police will spare no effort in clamping down and take tough enforcement action on vice activities. Those found engaging in illicit activities will be dealt with sternly in accordance to the law.
