The Police have arrested two teenagers, both 16, for their suspected involvement in a series of theft from motor vehicles.

Between late August and early September 2018, the Police were alerted to several cases of theft, where valuables such as cash cards were reported stolen from vehicles parked along Bukit Batok Streets 34 and 52. Through ground enquiries, officers from Jurong Police Division established the identities of the teenage boys and arrested them on 12 and 17 September 2018.

Investigations are ongoing. Anyone convicted for theft under Section 379 of the Penal Code, Chapter 224, is liable for a jail term up to 3 years, or with fine, or both.

To safeguard your vehicles against theft, the Police would like to advise vehicle owners to adopt the following precautionary measures:

  • Install an anti-theft alarm system;
  • Do not leave cash and valuables such as cash cards, laptops, handphones, briefcases or wallets in your vehicle;
  • Lock all vehicle doors and wind up all windows when the vehicle is parked, even if it is for a short while; and
  • Park in well-lit areas.
