The Police have arrested a 28-year-old man for his suspected involvement in a case of housebreaking and theft by night.

On 19 September 2018 at about 10.25 am, the Police received a report that a unit at an industrial building along Lorong 23 Geylang had been broken into. Graphic

Through follow up investigations, officers from Bedok Police Division established the identity of the man and arrested him on the same day at 5.15pm.

Investigations against the man are ongoing. Anyone convicted for housebreaking and theft by night faces a minimum imprisonment term of not less than 2 years and not more than 14 years.

The Police would like to advise all property owners to adopt the following crime prevention measures against break-ins:

  • Secure all doors, roller shutters, windows and other openings with good quality grills and close-shackled padlocks when leaving your shop, even for a short while;
  • Refrain from keeping large sums of cash in commercial premises; and
  • Install a burglar alarm and CCTVs, to cover the access points into your premises. Ensure that they are tested periodically and in good working condition.
