The Police have arrested a 35-year-old man for his suspected involvement in a case of loanshark harassment.

On 10 October 2018, the Police received a report that the door of a residential unit along Upper Boon Keng Road was splashed with red paint and loanshark-related graffiti was scrawled on the wall.

Through extensive ground enquiries, officers from Bedok Police Division established the identity of the suspect and arrested him along Lorong 28 Geylang on 16 October 2018. One handphone, three cans of paint and one glove were seized. The man is also believed to be involved in other cases of loanshark harassment in Tampines housing estate.

The man will be charged in court on 18 October 2018 under the Moneylenders Act 2010 (Revised Edition). First time offenders found guilty of loanshark harassment shall be fined not less than $5,000 and not more than $50,000 with mandatory imprisonment of up to 5 years, and mandatory caning of up to 6 strokes.
