The Police have arrested a 29-year-old man for his suspected involvement in multiple cases of theft from vehicle.

On 14 October 2018 at about 6.45am, the Police were alerted to a case of theft from vehicle along Chia Ping Road. Through ground enquiries and with the aid of images from CCTVs, officers from Jurong Police Division established the identity of the man and arrested him on 17 October 2018 at 6.20pm. The man is believed to be involved in several similar cases in Jurong.

The man will be charged in court on 18 October 2018 with theft under Section 379 of the Penal Code, Chapter 224. Anyone convicted for theft is liable for a jail term which may extend to 3 years, or with fine, or both.

The Police would like to advise vehicle owners to adopt the following precautionary measures:

  • Install an anti-theft alarm system;
  • Do not leave cash and valuables such as cash cards, laptops, handphones, briefcases or wallets in your vehicle;
  • Lock all vehicle doors and wind up all windows when the vehicle is parked, even if it is for a short while; and
  • Park in well-lit areas.
