The Police have arrested a 28-year-old man for his suspected involvement in a case of theft of motor vehicle.

On 19 October 2018, the Police were alerted to a case of a motorcycle, missing from the carpark at Blk 513 Tampines Central 1. Through ground enquiries and with the aid of Police cameras, officers from Bedok Police Division established the identity of the man and subsequently arrested him on 22 October 2018.

The man will be charged in court on 24 October 2018 with the offence of theft of motor vehicle under Section 379A of the Penal Code, Chapter 224 punishable with imprisonment for a term which may extend to 7 years and shall also be liable to a fine.

The Police would like to advise all motorcycle owners to adopt the following crime prevention measures:

  • Park your motorcycle in well-lit areas;
  • Install an anti-theft alarm for your motorcycle;
  • Use a motorcycle canvas to cover the motorcycle, securing both ends; 
  • Use additional locking devices such as disc brake locks or install a suspension guard; and
  • Remove the ignition key and lock the motorcycle, whenever it is left unattended.
