The Police have arrested a 51-year-old man for his suspected involvement in a case of lurking house-trespass to commit theft along Jalan Besar.

On 31 October 2018 at about 5.45pm, the Police received a report informing that cash amounting to $4500 had been stolen from a restaurant along Jalan Besar.

Through ground enquiries and with the aid of CCTV footages, officers from Central Police Division established the identity of the man and arrested him along Tessensohn Road on 7 November 2018 at about 5.30pm. Preliminary investigations revealed that the man is believed to have entered the restaurant illegally via a common staircase from the upper unit of the same building.

The man will be charged in court on 9 November 2018 with lurking house-trespass to commit theft under Section 454 of the Penal Code, Chapter 224. If convicted, he is liable to an imprisonment term which may extend to 10 years.
