Swift Arrest Of Two Men Involved In Voluntarily Causing Hurt By Dangerous Weapon Case

The Police have arrested two men, both aged 30, for their suspected involvement in a case of voluntarily causing hurt by dangerous weapon.

On 19 November 2019 at about 2.45pm, the Police were alerted to a case of assault at a bus stop near Block 501 Jurong West Street 51. Upon arrival, the alleged attackers had fled the scene. A female victim, who was found with facial injuries, as well as lacerations on her arms, informed that two men had assaulted her with a penknife. The victim was subsequently conveyed to the hospital.

Through ground enquiries and with the aid of images from the police cameras, officers from Jurong Police Division established the identities of the two men. With the assistance of officers from the Special Operations Command, the two men were arrested on the same day at about 9pm along Jurong West St 41. A knife was seized in relation to the case.

Both men will be charged in court on 21 November 2018 with the offence of voluntarily causing hurt with dangerous weapon with common intention under Section 324 read with Section 34 of the Penal Code, Chapter 224. If convicted, they shall be liable for an imprisonment term which may extend to 7 years, or with fine, or with caning, or with any combination of such punishments.
