The Police have arrested a 19-year-old man for his suspected involvement in a case of theft of motorcycle at Blk 772 Woodlands Drive 60.
On 23 November 2018, the Police were alerted to a case of a motorcycle missing from the service road at Blk 772 Woodlands Drive 60. Through ground enquiries and with the aid of police cameras, officers from Jurong Police Division established the identity of the man and subsequently arrested him on 25 November 2018. Preliminary investigations revealed that the man is also believed to be involved in another similar case in November 2018.
The man will be charged in court on 27 November 2018 with the offence of theft of motor vehicle under Section 379A of the Penal Code, Chapter 224 punishable with imprisonment for a term which may extend to 7 years, and shall also be liable to a fine.
The Police would like to advise all vehicle owners to adopt the following crime prevention measures:
- Park your motorcycle in well-lit areas;
- Install an anti-theft alarm for your motorcycle;
- Use a motorcycle canvas to cover the motorcycle, securing both ends;
- Use additional locking devices such as disc brake locks or install a suspension guard; and
- Remove the ignition key and lock the motorcycle, whenever it is left unattended.
