The Police have arrested two teenagers, aged 16 and 19, for their suspected involvement in loanshark harassment cases. 
 
On 11 November 2018, the Police received a report of loanshark harassment where red paint was splashed on the front door and a debtor note was found affixed to the gate of a residential unit located at Blk 331 Clementi Ave 2. Through ground enquiries and with the aid of CCTV images, officers from Clementi Police Division established the identity of the suspects and arrested them on 13 and 14 December 2018. Preliminary investigations revealed that the teenagers are believed to be involved in several other cases of loanshark harassment Clementi, Woodlands, Chai Chee and Sengkang housing estates.
 
The teenagers will be charged in court on 15 December 2018 under the Moneylenders Act (2010 Revised Edition). Under the Moneylenders Act (2010 Revised Edition), first time offenders found guilty of loanshark harassment shall be fined not less than $5,000 and not more than $50,000 with mandatory imprisonment of up to 5 years and mandatory caning of up to 6 strokes.
