The Police have arrested two 17-year-old male teenagers for their suspected involvement in a case of loanshark harassment.

On 27 December 2018 at about 11.15 pm, the Police were alerted to a case of loanshark harassment where the gate of a residential unit was secured with a bicycle chain and a padlock, and a debtor’s note was also left at the gate.

Through ground enquiries, officers from Clementi Police Division detained the two teenagers at a bus stop along Jalan Bukit Merah.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the teenagers were believed to have carried out similar acts of harassment in Toa Payoh, Tampines and Henderson housing estates.

The Police takes a zero tolerance approach towards loanshark harassment. Those who deliberately vandalise properties, and cause annoyance and disruption to public safety will be dealt with severely in accordance with the law.
