Nine Arrested In A Seven-Day Enforcement Operation Against Massage Establishments, Liquor Outlets And Public Entertainment Outlets

The Police have arrested eight women and a man, aged between 24 and 40, during a seven-day enforcement operation against massage establishments, liquor outlets and public entertainment outlets along North Bridge Road, Victoria Street, Serangoon Road, Jalan Besar, Kitchener Road, Desker Road, Chander Road, Beach Road, Upper Cross Street, Upper Circular Road, Jalan Bukit Merah, Raffles Boulevard, Eng Hoon Street, Mosque Street from 20 to 26 January 2019.

During the operation conducted by Central Police Division, three unlicensed massage establishments were detected and three massage establishments were found to have contravened licensing rules and conditions. Seven women, aged between 24 and 39, and a 40-year-old man were arrested for offences under the Employment of Foreign Manpower Act and Women’s Charter.

Three public entertainment outlets were also found to have contravened licensing conditions. A 29-year-old woman was arrested for offences under the Employment of Foreign Manpower Act.

Investigations are ongoing.

Actions will be taken against the operators for flouting the rules and regulations under the Public Entertainment Act and Massage Establishment Act 2017. The Police takes a serious view of anyone involved in criminal activities and will continue to take tough enforcement action against those found breaking the law.
