The Police have arrested a 24-year-old man for his suspected involvement in a case of motor vehicle theft along Davidson Road.

On 6 February 2019 at about 3.03 am, the Police received a report that a lorry had crashed into a tree and was abandoned along Kampong Ampat.

Through ground enquiries and with the aid of CCTV footages, officers from Tanglin Police Division established the identity of the suspect and subsequently arrested him on 14 February 2019. Preliminary investigations revealed that the lorry was parked in a company’s compound with its key left in the ignition prior to the incident. The man is believed to have entered the compound and drove away the lorry before abandoning it.

Investigations against the man are ongoing.

The Police would like to advise all vehicle owners to adopt the following crime prevention measures:

  • Park in well-lit areas
  • Install an anti-theft alarm system;
  • Remove the ignition key whenever the vehicle is left unattended;
  • Lock all vehicle doors and wind up all windows when vehicle is parked, even if it is for a short while.
