The Police have arrested a 23-year-old man for his suspected involvement in a case of motor vehicle theft along Joan Road.

On 11 February 2019 at about 2.30pm, the Police received a report that a car parked at a carpark along Joan Road was stolen.

Through ground enquiries and with the aid of CCTV footages, officers from Tanglin Police Division established the identity of the suspect and arrested him on 15 February 2019 along Yishun Street 81.

The man will be charged in court on 16 February 2019 with theft of motor vehicle under Section 379A of the Penal Code, Chapter 224. If convicted, he will be liable to an imprisonment term of up to 7 years and shall also be liable to a fine.

The Police would like to advise all vehicle owners to adopt the following crime prevention measures:

  • Park in well-lit areas;
  • Install an anti-theft alarm system;
  • Remove the ignition key whenever the vehicle is left unattended;
  • Lock all vehicle doors and wind up all windows when vehicle is parked, even if it is for a short while.
