The Police have arrested a 31-year-old man for his suspected involvement in a case of theft of motorcycle at Marine Parade Central.
On 21 March 2019, the Police received a report from a victim informing that his motorcycle was stolen from the open carpark at Marine Parade Central. Through ground enquiries and with the aid of police cameras, officers from Bedok Police Division established the identity of the man and subsequently arrested him on 24 March 2019. The missing motorcycle was recovered in Geylang.
The man will be charged in court on 25 March 2019 with theft of motor vehicle under Section 379A of the Penal Code, Chapter 224. If convicted, he will be liable to an imprisonment term of up to 7 years and shall also be liable to a fine.
The Police would like to advise all motorcycle owners to adopt the following crime prevention measures:
- Park your motorcycle in well-lit areas;
- Install an anti-theft alarm for your motorcycle;
- Use a motorcycle canvas to cover the motorcycle, securing both ends;
- Use additional locking devices such as disc brake locks or install a suspension guard; and
- Remove the ignition key and lock the motorcycle, whenever it is left unattended.
