The Police have arrested a 18-year-old man for his suspected involvement in a case of motor vehicle theft.
On 25 March 2019 at about 12.13pm, the Police were alerted to a case of a missing lorry parked along Quality Road.
Through ground enquiries and with the aid of police cameras, officers from Jurong Police Division established the identity of the man and arrested him on 26 March 2019. The stolen lorry was subsequently recovered in the vicinity of Jalan Rumah Tinggi.
The man will be charged in court on 28 March 2019 with theft of motor vehicle under Section 379A of the Penal Code, Chapter 224. Anyone convicted is liable for an imprisonment term up to 7 years, and shall also be liable to a fine.
The Police would like to advise all vehicle owners to adopt the following crime prevention measures:
- Park in well-lit areas;
- Install an anti-theft alarm system;
- Remove cash-cards, keys and other valuables, such as laptops and mobile phones before leaving the vehicle and
- Wind up all windows and lock all doors of the vehicle, even if it is intended to be left unattended for a short while
