The Police have arrested a 36-year-old man for his suspected involvement in a case of armed robbery.

On 29 March 2019 at 2.20am, a 72-year-old taxi driver reported to the Police that a passenger had pointed a sharp object at his neck and robbed him of cash amounting to S$36 along Punggol Central.

Through ground enquiries and with the aid of images from police cameras, officers from Ang Mo Kio Police Division established the identity of the man and arrested him on the same day.

The man will be charged in court on 30 March 2019 with armed robbery under Section 392 read with Section 397 of the Penal Code, Chapter 224, which is punishable with imprisonment for a term of not less than three years and not more than 14 years, and shall also be liable to caning with not less than 12 strokes.
